SLAC - PUB - 10644 Measurements of Branching Fractions and CP - Violating Asymmetries in B - Meson Decays to the

چکیده
We present preliminary measurements of branching fractions and CP -violating asymmetries in decays of B mesons to two-body final states containing a K. The results are based on a data sample of approximately 227 million Υ (4S) → BB decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. We measure B(B+ → Kπ) = (26.0 ± 1.3 ± 1.0) × 10, B(B+ → KK) = (1.45 −0.46±0.11)×10(< 2.35×10−6), and B(B0 → KK) = (1.19 −0.35±0.13)×10 , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic, and the upper limit is at a 90% confidence level. The significance of the B(B+ → KK) and B(B0 → KK) results are 3.5σ and 4.5σ, respectively, including systematic uncertainties. In addition, we obtain a measurement of the CP -violating asymmetry for the B → Kπ mode and we determine a 90% confidence-level interval for the asymmetry in the B → KK mode: ACP (B → Kπ) = −0.087 ± 0.046 ± 0.010 and ACP (B → KK) ∈ [−0.43, 0.68]. SLAC-PUB-11888 Rare hadronic B decays.
The study of rare hadronic B-meson decays with branching fractions O(10) enable us to probe a wide range of phenomena. Such decays can be used to probe our understanding of the CKM [1] description of quark mixing and CP violation (CPV ) in the Standard Model of Particle Physics (SM) by measuring all three of the Unitarity Triangle angles α, β and γ, as well as charge asymmetries in direct CPV ∆...
متن کاملMeasurements of branching fractions and CP - violating asymmetries in B 0 → π + π − , K + π − , K + K − decays
Recent measurements of the CP -violating asymmetry parameter sin2β by the BABAR [1] and BELLE [2] collaborations established CP violation in the B system. These measurements, as well as updated preliminary results [3, 4], are consistent with the Standard Model expectation based on measurements and theoretical estimates of the elements of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa [5] (CKM) quark-mixing matr...

Abstract We calculate the CP-averaged branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries of a number of two-body charmless hadronic decays B0 s → PP,PV, V V in the perturbative QCD (pQCD) approach to leading order in αs (here P and V denote light pseudoscalar and vector mesons, respectively). The mixinginduced CP violation parameters are also calculated for these decays. We also predict the polariza...

An overview of the observation of CP violation in the neutral B system, and the measurements of the CP-violating asymmetry sin2β with B → charmonium K 0 S ,L events, performed by the BABAR and Belle experiments at the SLAC and KEK B factories is given. In addition, the measurements of sin2β with several other modes are described, including B → φK 0 S , which, as the leading contribution is from...
متن کاملDetermining the quark mixing matrix from CP-violating asymmetries.
If the Standard Model explanation of CP violation is correct, then measurements of CP-violating asymmetries in B meson decays can in principle determine the entire quark mixing matrix. According to the Standard Model (SM), CP violation arises from the fact that in the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) quark mixing matrix, some of the elements are not real. This picture of CP violation will be inc...
